Sorry No Candy Glowing Sign

Giving out candy to all the little trick-or-treaters on Halloween is so hard in our house! Every time someone knocks on the door or rings the door bell ALL our dogs go crazy, barking and jumping around. If my husband or I do manage to crack the front door open a bit one of the dogs always slips through and they either run away or they jump all over everyone that is standing at the door. We have tried just leaving them outside but they bark at all the voices they hear walking around the neighborhood. Plus they can still hear the door bell and see the door open so they start barking and scathing at the door, we have too many crazy untrained dogs...I know! SO to make things easier on us we just don't give out candy, sad but true! Even though we don't turn on our porch light we still get kiddos knocking and ringing the bell so this year I decided to make a sign!

 Supplies:
A lantern (I bought mine from Target and it was on sale for $5.00)
A touch light
Letter stencles
Scissors
A pen
A sharp tipped knife (I wanted to use my box cutter but couldn't find it)
"Creepy Cloth" (The Dollar Tree) or a black Halloweenish bow
A bag of creatures (The Dollar Tree)
And one black poster board

The first thing I did was measure the inside of the lantern door horizontally and vertically so I knew what size I needed to cut the poster board to block out the windows.

I used the first piece I cut as a guide to cut the other three.

I wanted the letters on the front of the lantern to be super bright so everyone can read it in the dark so I used some extra pieces of the poster board to black out the opening on the top of the lantern as well.

I then measured the frame to see where I needed to start and end the letters.

I then stenciled "SORRY NO CANDY" on the poster board piece that was going on the front of the lantern.

I cut out the letters using the tip of the knife.

I then cut a piece of wax paper the same size as the sign. Using double sided sticky tape I taped it to the back of the sign.

I put the black poster board pieces over the windows on the inside of the lantern. I put the touch light in the lantern then wrapped the "Creepy Cloth" around the lanterns handle and stuck some of the plastic spiders in the cloth. Done and done!

If you do give out candy make an Out Of Candy glowing sign. So once all your candy is gone you can place it outside of your door to let all the tricker-treaters know.

Next Weeks Meals

I posted this weeks Weight Loss Wednesday post on Monday, my Fit For Fall Calendar, so I wasn't going to post anything today but...I just couldn't do that! So I am going to share my breakfast, lunch and dinner menu for next week with you. When I was in Oregon my brother got me into prepping my meals for the week. My brother and I would sit down on Saturday, plan our breakfast, lunch and dinner for the week then go to the grocery store to get our supplies. Then Sunday we would make our meals for the whole week. This made every day so easy and kept me on track because I wasn't searching the fridge or cabinets for something to make and I wasn't reaching for something bad to eat when I was in a rush or feeling lazy. So if you don't mind eating the same thing for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day then you should give this a try!

Breakfast:
(October 7th - October 12th)
 Apple Cinnamon Nutty Oatmeal
1/2 cup old fashioned oatmeal
1/4 cup diced apple
2 tablespoons sliced almonds
Dash of cinnamon
Dash of Truvia

Lunch:
(October 7th - October 12th)
Turkey Sandwich with grapes and almonds on the side
1 whole wheat sandwich thin
2 romaine lettuce leaves
2 slices of tomato
1 1/2 ounces of turkey breast
2 tablespoons spicy brown mustard
 Side:
1/2 cup grapes
8 Almonds

Dinner:
(October 7th - October 12th)
 Oven Baked Chicken Fajitas
(This recipe makes enough for the whole week)
30 ounces of chicken breast
3 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons Mrs. Dash Chipotle
2 cans diced tomatoes
4 cans green chilies
1 red onion diced
2 green bell peppers
Olive Oil Cooking Spray

Preheat oven to 400 degrees
Spray 13x9 baking dish with cooking spray
Cut chicken into strips and place into greased baking dish
Coat chicken with Mrs. Dash and olive oil
Add tomatoes, green chilies, diced red onions and sliced bell peppers
Bake uncovered for 20-25 minutes or until the chicken is cooked and vegetables are tender
Eat this on corn tortillas

Fit For Fall Calendar

(So I know that today is Monday not Wednesday but since Wednesday is the second of October and the workouts on this calender start on the first I wanted to post it early. So lets just pretend that today is Wednesday!)

Even though I ate pretty well and worked out on my September "vacation" in Oregon all of Grandma's goodies, dinner out with friends and beers on football Sunday caught up to me and I gained about 5 pounds. So to get back on track and feel my best in my favorite fall outfits I came up with my own little workout route for the month of October, I am calling it my Fit For Fall Calender. This is the routine I will do every day after my cardio workout. For this weeks Weight Loss Wednesday I am sharing my calender with you so if you would like you can follow it along with me!

Side Plank (Easy, Medium, Hard)
"Crunch"                                  Wall Sit
Push Up (Hard, Medium)
Walking Lunge

On top of my regular cardio workouts and my Fit For Fall October Calendar I will also get back on my regular diet and watch what I eat (of course.) Here are a few of my favorite websites where I get most of my healthy recipes from:
Skinnytaste
Health.com
Bodybuilding.com
and of course there is my healthy recipe posts which you can find here: MommyMiaa

Keep in mind that the key to losing weight and getting fit is....

September Favorites

September was a bitter sweet month. I pretty much got to spend all of September in Oregon with my family which was beyond fun and amazing but I was sad to leave! I am already missing my family so much! But I did discover a bunch of new things that I am loving, so here are a few of my favorites from September:

Random: I am having a lot of fun this year with my Fantasy Football League which started in September!

TV/Movie: My dad introduced me to The Bridge in September and now I am totally hooked!

Style: I have been obsessed with Leggings! They were a blessing on my long road trips and I wore them a lot while in Oregon, they are just so comfortable, so cute and so easy!

Food: While in Oregon my brother introduced me to cooking with Greek Yogurt and now I use it a lot in my recipes!

Music: I listened to Ginny Blackmore - Bones...
...and Anna Kendrick - Cups non stop all month!

My September Disappointment: Like I said I was sad to leave Oregon and I am sad that Colorado and Oregon are so far apart! I wish that they were closer so I could drive out to see my family whenever I felt like it!

Family First

If you follow my blog or just stop by from time to time you have probably noticed that I haven't posted anything in about a week. Like I said in my August Favorite's post my son and I took an impromptu road trip to Oregon to spend some time with my Grandpa who is battling liver cancer. Being with my family has been my number one priority lately so my blog has been put on the back burner for the time being.

But I promise as soon as I get settled back into my Colorado life, which will be at the beginning of October,  I will get back to blogging and posting every Saturday, Wednesday (Weight Loss Wednesday) and also every third Thursday of every month (Curious In Colorado). I have a lot of fun, fit and helpful blog posts coming up so stay tuned!
