Skull Shirt

Since Halloween in 5 days away I wanted to make a skull shirt that I saw a picture of on Pinterest to wear out.

I used a shirt I bought from Goodwill, scissors and a thin black Sharpie.

I folded the shirt in half then drew my skulls eye, half his nose and some teeth.

I then pinched the fabric in the middle of the eye and his nose and cut a small hole so I could get my scissors in to cut out the eye and the nose.

For the teeth I just pinched the fabric then cut off the pinched part, this made small circle shapes.

I then folded the shirt in half again but just the front of the shirt. I then traced my cut out eye and nose onto the inside of the shirt. I turned the shirt inside out and cut out the areas I had marked. I did the same pinch and cut process for the teeth that I did on the other side.

My happy skull.

Yummy Mummy

As you can tell from most of the "recipes" I have posted my son loves hot dogs, its pretty much all he wants for dinner every night. Since Halloween is next week I wanted to make him a fun Halloween themed dinner, using hot dogs of course, and when I saw a picture of these mummy wrapped hot dogs on Pinterest I knew he would love them. I was totally right!

Supplies Needed: crescent rolls (8 count), 8 hot dogs, ketchup and mustard

Fold each piece of dough in half

Roll each piece of dough on your counter top to make them long and skinny

Wrap the dough around each hot dog leaving a bit of space to dot some eyes then place them on a baking pan and bake them until they are golden brown.

Squeeze some ketchup and mustard in separate bowls then using a wooden skewer dot some eyes on the hot dog

Some very yummy mummies

Guys Closet Costumes

My husband does not like to dress up for Halloween so he only dresses up when he has to, like when we are invited to a party. Since he doesn't like dressing up he never has an idea of what he wants to dress up as so I head to his closet to come up with some costumes for him to pick from using his own clothes. Here are 5 Halloween costumes I came up with using only stuff my husband already owns.

50's Greaser (slick your hair back and put a comb in your back pocket)

Truck Driver (would also look good with a sleeveless flannel shirt and a wife beater)

Basketball Player (wear sweat bands if you have them)

Jersey Shore (spike your hair and say "G.T.L!" all night)

High School Jock

Cheeky Grilled Cheese

My son and I decided to take a stroll to the neighborhood park the other night before it got dark and by the time we got home he was worn out and pretty ready for bed. The only problem was we still hadn't had dinner so I needed to whip up something yummy, warm and fast. Being inspired by all the fun we just had in the brisk fall weather here is what I came up with.....

I made open faced grilled cheese sandwiches: 3 slices of bread, 3 slices of American cheese and butter. I served broccoli rice on the side.

To make the meal fun I cut jack-o'-lantern style faces into the cheese.

Then I placed a piece of bread butter side down in a pan and placed a piece of cheese onto the un-buttered side of the bread.

To make the cheese melt before the bottom of the bread burned I placed a pot lid over the bread.

"Yum yum yummy" is what my son had to say about this meal while he rubbed his tummy!

Cute Trick-Or-Treat Bag

I am very excited to take my son trick-or-treating this year. Now that he is a little older and understands what is going on he will have a blast, plus we will be with a bunch of friends and family which will make trick-or-treating even more enjoyable. I would normally just break out the plastic orange pumpkin for my son to collect his candy in but after I saw this extremely cute D.I.Y. trick-or-treat bag I knew this year was going to be different!

What I used: yellow paint, orange paint, white paint, a plain black bag and two little feet.

I didn't have orange paint so I made some by mixing some red and yellow paint together.

I painted the little feet yellow, orange and white just like a candy corn.

Then I pressed one little foot at a time onto the plain black bag.

Then using yellow, orange and white puff paint I wrote "Trick-Or-Treat Smell My..." above the little foot prints.

Too stinking cute!

Halloween Nails

Since Halloween is right around the corner I wanted to give my nails a Halloween make over!

The colors I used: Maybelline Sweet Clementine, Sinfil Colors Black On Black, Wet N Wild 469 and Sinful Colors Nail Art in Bad Chick. I also used some regular tape.

I applied 2 coats of Sweet Clementine.

Then I placed a piece of tape diagonally across my nails and painted the corner of my nail with a thick coat of Black On Black.

I let the Black On Black polish dry a bit before I took off the tape.

After I pulled the tape off and let the black polish dry completely I painted a light coat of the Wet N Wild color and let that dry. Then using the Nail Art Bad Chick polish I drew 3 diagonal lines from the corner of my nail and let them dry. I then drew 2 lines going through the diagonal lines making a spiders web.

"BOO!"

No Bake Pumpkin Oatmeal Cookies

I was craving something sweet the other night so I looked online for a dessert to make using the left over pumpkin puree I had sitting in the fridge. When I saw the words No Bake in the recipe by chocolatecoveredkatie.com I was sold! They took no time to make and they were so good, they really hit the spot!

Ingredients: 3/4 cup quick oats, 1/2 cup flour, 1/4 cup sugar, 1/4 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp baking soda, 1/4 tsp cinnamon, 1/3 cup canned pumpkin, 2 tbsp milk, 1 tbsp oil and 1/2 tsp vanilla extract.

Preparation: Combine all dry ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Combine all liquid ingredients, including the pumpkin, in a separate bowl and mix well. Mix dry and liquid ingredients together and mix well. Place in fridge for a bit to firm then roll into balls.....that's it. Enjoy!

Silly Halloween Shirt

My very best friend is 5 months pregnant right now so when I saw a picture of this shirt for sale online I thought "perfect!" But of course I also thought "I can totally make that myself!" So here is the shirt I made for my pregnant best friend for Halloween:

All I used was a shirt I bought from Goodwill and white and orange Puff Paint.

I covered my sons hands with the white puff paint and pressed them on the lower part of the shirt where her baby bump would be.

Then using the orange puff paint I wrote Let Me Out under the hand prints.

If I was pregnant right now I would totally be rocking this shirt for Halloween!

Costumes From My Closet

Last year my husband came home from work and told me "we were invited to a Halloween party so we need to get some costumes, oh and the party is in 2 days!" Thanks Hun! Since almost all the costumes being sold in the stores are pretty expensive and half of them don't fit me, note to costume makers not everyone is a size 2, I started looking through the clothes in our closets and came up with some pretty cool ideas!
Here are 10 costume ideas using only items that I already own:
Pirate
Hippie
Alice In Wonderland

Cowgirl

Black Cat

50's Pedal Pusher Look

Biker Chick

Wednesday Addams

Exhausted Mom

50's House Wife (my costume this year!)
EXTRAS:
Hippie- Ware the head band over your hair around the top of your head so it sits in the middle of your forehead. You can Google Hippie Headbands and look at the Images to see what I am talking about.

Alice In Wonderland- I made the head band by gluing a black bow onto a black head band. I think this look would be super cute with a thick white belt tied around your waste over the long blue shirt.

Biker Chick- I wore a v-neck white tank under the leather jacket but a skull or Harley-Davidson shirt would look awesome. Ware the dew rag on your head by tying the two like ends together under your hair at the nape of your neck. The large point should be over your hair and pointing down near the crown of your head. You can Google Dew Rag and look at the Images to see what I am talking about.

Wednesday Addams- I wore my husband's white collared shirt under the black sweater then rolled the sleeves. Don't forget your braided pigtails and dark lipstick!

Black Cat- I cut out cat shaped ears from cardboard and left a lip. I colored them black then taped a piece of pink paper on them for the inner ear. I bent back the lip and used this to bobby pin them to my head.
