July Favorites

July was a fun busy month! Is it just me or does it seem like everyone was born in July? I had a bunch of friends, a few cousin, my brother and my husband all turn a year older last month! Anyways, here are some of my favorite things from July...

Random: One of my very favorite things from July was the 80's Themed Party that I threw for my husbands birthday! It was totally tubular!

TV/Movie: A bunch of shows on TNT Drama have caught my interest and its the channel we have been watching the most lately....The Last Ship, Cold Justice, Murder In The First and soon Legends. 

Style/Beauty: I bought my son some Firefly Light Up Timer Toothbrushes from our local grocery store and him and I both love them. I like them because when you push the bottom of them a little light starts to blink and it blinks for 1 minute which means that it is time to move to the top or bottom row of his teeth, this makes it really easy for him to know how long he should be brushing all of his teeth. Of course my son likes it because its a blinking light that makes the bathroom look really cool when its dark...whatever works! 

Food: We have been meeting up with my father-in-law most Saturdays for breakfast at Daylight Donuts, its our newest tradition that the whole family is loving. The food is good, I normally get the two eggs scrambled with wheat toast and some potatoes, the coffee is hot and the price is affordable. Love it!

Music: I absolutely love this song Stay With Me and I absolutely love Sam Smith's voice...amazing.

The other song Ive been loving is Tyler Farr's Whiskey In My Water, we get to see him in September along with Florida Georgia Line and Jason Aldean....cant wait!

July Disappointment: July was a month that my hubs saw some pretty Awful Wrecks. He has seen a lot being a truck driver for so long but this last month was especially bad, he actually saw someone that was deceased laying in the road after rolling his car. Now that its summer and the weather is hot, there are a lot more people and animals on the roads so please be careful out there!

June Favorites

June was a flash, it went by so fast that it actually took me awhile to think of my favorites for this post since it feels like May was just yesterday. But I did it! Here are some of my favorites from June....

Random: My husband and I have been watching the 2014 FIFA World Cup since it started and we are so proud of how far the USA made it! 

TV/Movie: I have been completely obsessed with the movie Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones. I have seen it so many times that I have lost count!

Style/Beauty: Since its been pretty hot here I have been wearing dresses and shorts but due to our long winter my legs were looking a little Casperish so to give my legs a bit of color I have been using Jergens Natural Glow Lotion every day after my shower. Love this stuff!

Food: I am in love with Simple Organic Truth bars. The double peanut butter nutrition bar is my favorite!

Music: I heard my husband listening to Magic! - Rude one day and was hooked right away. I love the beat, no matter what mood I'm in this song makes me wanna dance.

And I am beyond in love with Florida Georgia Line - Stay. I can not wait to see them in September...so excited!

June Disappointment: I thought I was being smart and saving money by buying myself a small bottle of Vitamins In Pill Form but all I did was make myself sick. The pills were huge, I could taste them when they finally broke down in my stomach and they made me really nauseous. So I had to go back and buy myself a bottle of my trusted yet kinda pricy gummy vitamins, so much for saving money! Stupid gross vitamins....grrrr!

May Favorites

May was a fun month full of zoo visits, park visits and a mini road trip with my best friend and our boys who are also besties! Some of my favorite things from May were...

 Random: I have become addicted to the Bingo Bash App that I downloaded on my iPad, I find myself playing it every chance I get!

TV/Movie: The new show Penny Dreadful premiered May 11th on Showtime and it sucked me in right away. Its creepy, freaky, dark and interesting...love it!

Style/Beauty: I made a Makeup Remover using coconut oil, baby shampoo and water and I am obsessed with it! I will never buy makeup remover from the store ever again, that is how good this stuff is! Check it out here.

Food: While my friend and I were on our mini road trip we had dinner at Nick-n-Willy's Pizza and Oh My Gosh it was so good...mmmmm!

Music: Also while on our road trip my friend played Ellie Goulding - How Long Will I Love You and I fell in love with it! We listened to it over and over again in the car.

As soon as I heard Blake Shelton - My Eyes on The Voice I was hooked and lucky for me our country music station plays it all the time.

May Disappointment: The Weather has been seriously bipolar! It snowed on Mother's Day, then it was hot and sunny, then it rained for a couple days then it was back to being hot and sunny and then the big storms came in. Warm + Storm = Tornadoes...we had about 10 touch down in Colorado on the 23rd, one of which was not to far from our house, and with the tornadoes came massive hail storms. Right now its back to being hot and sunny but thunderstorms are in our near future....like tonight.

Happy Birthday Blog!

Exactly two years ago today I posted my very first blog post, Hello There, which means that today is my blogs 2nd birthday...yay! My first post wasn't anything, in fact my first four blog posts weren't much of anything at all, but in the last two years my blog has grown so much and I am so proud of it. To celebrate my blogs birthday I thought that it would be nice to take a little stroll down memory lane, but I didn't want to overwhelm by posting a huge list of my past blog posts so I asked a few of my friends and a few of my family members which of my posts they have liked the best. So here are a couple of their favorites and a couple of mine... 

My Favorites

 On one of my many trips to Oregon my mom and I threw a Cars themed birthday party for my son which turned out so well, everyone loved it including the birthday boy...he still talks about it.

One of my first Thrifted Twin Threads post is still one of my favorites. It was for Halloween and it was Emma Swan from Once Upon A Time and Alice from Once Upon A Time In Wonderland and I think they both looked pretty darn close, I was and still am so proud.

One of my very favorite Curious posts is Curious In Oregon. Portland has always been one of my favorite cities, I have been exploring it since I was little, so it was fun sharing all of my favorite things to do in Portland. Plus checking out some of the sites where Grimm has filmed was pretty awesome!

Family Favorites

One of my brothers favorite posts is the Homemade Hummus. He loves hummus, he puts it on everything, so he said he was happy when I posted this recipe because now he can save money by making it at home.

One of my husbands favorite posts is the Ultimate Breakfast Skillet of course. He loves Village Inn's Ultimate Breakfast Skillet so when I made it for him at home he was stoked, I now have to make it for him at least once a month.

One of my moms favorite posts is the Valentines Day treasure hunt that I did for my son. She said that it is very cute, creative and sweet.

Friends Favorites

My first friends favorite post is my Last Day Luau. He said that the food looked amazing and everything else looked like a lot of fun, It made him want to play like a kid again. He also told me that he thinks I should leave the sign up on the door all year round.

My second friends favorite post is my Kate Middleton Thrifted Twin Threads. She said that she really liked this look because it was cute and simple.

My third friends favorite post is my Snow Day Stair Workout. She told me that its just so practical since all you need are stairs.



Blogging is one of my very favorite things to do and doing this blog has helped me in so many ways. It is my outlet, my escape, my pride, my imagination, my creativity...it is me! So cheers to my blogs 2nd birthday and cheers to many many more years of doing what I love to do....blogging.

April Favorites

April was a heart breaking month. On April second my family and I took an unexpected flight to Oregon to say goodbye to my Grandpa who passed away later that night. I spent almost all of April in Oregon with my family which was bitter sweet. Even though April was a hard month to get through I still had a few new favorites.

Random: At the beginning of April I had to buy a new phone since my old one decided to stop working. I went for the new Droid Ultra and I love it! I would recommend this phone to anyone, that's for sure.

TV/Movie: My husband started watching Chicago P.D. while I was out of town back in January so when I got back I kinda sorta started watching it with him off and on but towards the end of March I became fully hooked on the show. Since I had missed so many episodes I had a Chicago P.D. marathon with my bestie while I was in Oregon to catch up on everything.

Style/Beauty: I did a bit of thrift shopping with my mom and some friends while I was in Oregon and I found myself buying a pair of Flats from almost every store we went to. I am so obsessed with them right now. They have been perfect for this Spring.

Food: Also while I was in Oregon my brother introduced me to Silk Pure Almond Milk which was so tasty! It was one of the first things that I grabbed from the grocery store after I got back to Colorado...yum!

Music: In April I finally bought Paramore's new album and I cant get enough of the song Hate To See Your Heartbreak.

Another song that I have been listening to a lot is Roy Orbison - In Dreams. I am a huge oldies fan so when my dad played me this song after my Grandpa had passed I fell in love with it. It was one of the songs we played at my Grandpa's funeral.

April Disappointment: As you can probably guess the worst thing that happened to me last month was one of the worst things that has ever happened in my life time and that was the Passing Of My Grandpa. My grandpa was and always will be my hero! He did so many amazing things in his life time...he served in the United States Air Force, he was an extra in East Of Eden and had lunch with James Dean, he worked on the set of The Russians Are Coming, he owned a Shell gas station for 27 years and worked there as a mechanic for longer then that, my grandpa and grandma traveled to every continent but one and visited 18 different states, my grandparents were married for 58 loving, adventures years...like I said amazing. I am going to miss my grandpa every single day for the rest of my life and I will do my very best to live my life like he lived his!

March Favorites

March was a pretty busy month. My husband was still out of work so I was still driving him to 3+ doctors appointment a week, I planned and concord my sons birthday party and the motocross season started so I tried to help my brother-in-law and nephew get some new sponsors. All these were pretty time consuming but still fun! Here are some of my favorites from March:

Random: Of course this is my sons Go Diego Go Birthday Party, it was so much fun and I was so happy with the way everything turned out.

TV/Movie: My dad told me about the movie Silver Linings Playbook when I was in Oregon and now its one of my favorites. I love Jennifer Lawrence!

Style/Beauty: I found a tube of Enregin Cuticle Oil at The Dollar Tree and thought I would give it a try and I really like it. My cuticles get so dry and gross during the colder months and this has actually really helped, I'm weird and like the way it smells too.

Food: Since it was still pretty chilly in March and I caught a cold I ended up eating a lot of Soup. It was the only thing that sounded good and tasted good. My favorite was definitely potato!

Music: I never got on the whole boy band bandwagon but when I first heard this song, One Direction - Story Of My Life, I totally fell in love with it. I don't know if my husband wants me admitting this to you all but he loves this song too...shhhhh! So we blast it whenever we are in the car which has a lot!

My son and I finally saw Frozen and both of us loved it, now I know what all the hype was about! The first thing I did was download Let It Go because I loved the song so much, I am constantly catching myself singing or humming it as I'm doing things around the house.

March Disappointment: My cell phone decided to just stop working for me so I called my cell phone insurance company to get a replacement. Silly me thought that this whole process was going to be simple, I would send them my broken phone and they would send me a refurbished phone...I mean that is what we pay a monthly insurance fee for right?! Nope they told me that I need to send them $100 just to send them my broken phone then they would send me a used refurbished phone. I told them that was insane and we canceled our policy with them. So now I am stuck Without A Working Cell until I can find an affordable one online or one of my very awesome friends lets me use one of their old ones until I can upgrade! We will never get cell insurance again because to us its pretty pointless. The only reason we got it in the first place was because the salesman told us that if our phones were ever lost, stolen or broken they would replace them for us, of course he left out the part about the $100...sneaky sneaky!

February Favorites

February was kind of a boring month, I spent most of my time driving my husband around to his 5+ doctors appointments each week. My highlights from February were spoiling my husband and son on Valentines Day and putting on a Twilight themed dinner for my mother-in-laws birthday, those were fun! Some of my favorite things from February were....

Random: One day a week our family gets together to Play Trivia which is a blast, I get really excited when I actually know the answer to some of the questions.

TV/Movie: I have really gotten into this season of NCIS since they added Emily Wickersham who plays Ellie Bishop.

Style: My non stop accessorie in February was My Dog. I missed him so much when I was away for two weeks that he went everywhere with me after I got home.

Food: I was obsessed with Cereal last month! My favorite was Honey Almond Flax by Simple Truth, it made the perfect after dinner snack...I just couldn't get enough!

Music: The song Say Something by A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera is definitely one of my favorites. The video really hits home right now as well, I cant watch it without my eyes welling up.

Another song that has a lot of meaning to me right now is Luke Bryan - Drink A Beer. It is also one of my favorites by one of my favorite artists...very touching. 

February Disappointment: Since one of my best friends is a tax accountant she is M.I.A. once tax season hits, she gets super busy. Since she hasn't had any spare time I haven't seen my best friend all month and I miss her! Luckily I see a light at the end of the tunnel, once tax season is over we will be able to get back to our "normal" lives.

January Favorites

January was a pretty great month. I turned 30, my mom came out to Colorado to celebrate my birthday with me and she surprised me with plane tickets to Oregon to visit my family. Some of my favorite things from January were...

Random: I still cant believe that my parents surprised me with Plane Tickets To Oregon for my birthday! I have been missing my family so much and have been trying to figure out a way to get out there so this was amazing!

TV/Movie: Jack The Giant Slayer has been on our movie channels almost every night and my husband and I have watched it almost every night.

Style: I bought these Polo Sneakers from Ross Dress For Less awhile back and I find myself wearing them more and more now. They are so light and comfortable and I love the black and hot pink.

Food: I love black licorice and lately I have been munching on Good & Plenty's like they are going out of style. Obsessed and totally addicted!

Music: I have been hearing this song, Lorde - Royals, everywhere! It is so catchy and I find myself singing it randomly throughout the day.

January Disappointment: I was so excited to do some thrift shopping with one of my best friends while I was in Oregon but I was so not impressed by any of the thrift stores that we visited. Some of them had not enough merchandise and some had way to much. Plus almost everything was way over priced. I am very thankful for the thrift stores we have here in Colorado that's for sure!

December Favorites

December was great...of course! It was pretty much filled with all things Christmas which I loved because Christmas is my favorite holiday! Some more of my favorite things in December were...

Random: Christmas!!! I love love love everything Christmas!

TV/Movie: One of my new favorite TV shows is Almost Human! The actors are amazing, the stories are great and the banter between the two main stars is pretty freaking funny!

Style: I have started wearing Jewelry again and I really cant remember why I ever stopped. It has been giving all my outfits a little something extra and I love it! My favorite piece is this wrap bracelet that I got from my Mother-In-Law for Christmas which she bought from Premier Designs.

Food: I am uber obsessed with coffee but I went Coffee crazy in December. It really warmed me up on the super cold days and gave me the extra bit of energy that I needed to do all my Christmas shopping! My favorite coffee to make was definitely my Skinny Peppermint Mocha!

Music: I love OneRepublic - Counting Stars and end up singing it for days after I listen to it...

...same with Taylor Swift ft Ed Sheeran - Everything Has Changed. Love the song and the video is super cute!

December Disappointment: This Christmas was pretty hard on me since I wasn't able to spend it with my family! I miss celebrating Christmas with my family...I just miss them in general!

November Favorites

November was busy! I helped a lot of my friends get their houses cleaned, decorated and ready for the holidays. When I wasn't cleaning, my son and I took a lot of adventures around Colorado to see all the fall colors, have some fun and get some fresh air! Then my son got sick...again...so we spent a bit of our November curled up in bed watching cartoons! But here are some of my favorite things from November:

Random: My amazing friend Erin totally shocked me with a Surprise Party! My husband and I were common law married for 4 years and at the end of October we finally made it totally official and got married at the court house so she threw us a surprise party to celebrate.  

We love you Erin! Your the bestest!

TV/Movie: I rented White House Down from Redbox and now I am obsessed. As soon as I have a bit of extra cash I am going to buy it so I can stop renting it from Redbox!

Style: I have fallen in love with doing my Thrifted Twin Threads posts. I love finding an outfit online, duplicating it, then getting to wear it.

Food: The end of November was full of Turkey Recipes since we had a bit left over from Thanksgiving.

Music: My husband and I can't stop listening to this song, Passenger - Let Her Go, but the one we listen to is a cover by Jasmine Thompson.

I have also been listening to Ariana Grande - The Way ft. Mac Miller a lot. So cute!  

P.S. When I first heard the song I totally thought it was Maria Carey.

November Disappointment: My husband was in an accident at work at the beginning of October and is now dealing with massive head aches and dizziness and all of his doctors say its from a severe concussion which you cant do anything about! We just have to wait it out which is getting a bit frustrating!

October Favorites

October was a fun month! Pumpkin patches, costumes, I started my Thrifted Twin Threads posts, friends, fall, trick-or-treating, parties, Halloween crafts and cooking.....like I said fun! Here are some of my favorite things from October:

Random: I love when the Leafs Change for fall...its my favorite!

TV/Movie: I am totally obsessed with the TV show Sleepy Hollow on Fox!

Style: Fall in Colorado can be pretty brisk and sometimes snowy so my new outfit stable has been Boots! They keep my feet warm, dry and fashionable!

Food: I made something using Pumpkin Puree almost every day of October...so good!

Music: I went to the 30 Seconds To Mars Denver concert in October and the opening band was New Politics who I'm sad to say I had never heard of but now I am in love with their song Harlem.

And of course I love Paramore - Still Into You since they are one of my favorite bands!

October Disappointment: I really dislike the Upgrade for my iPad...like a lot!

September Favorites

September was a bitter sweet month. I pretty much got to spend all of September in Oregon with my family which was beyond fun and amazing but I was sad to leave! I am already missing my family so much! But I did discover a bunch of new things that I am loving, so here are a few of my favorites from September:

Random: I am having a lot of fun this year with my Fantasy Football League which started in September!

TV/Movie: My dad introduced me to The Bridge in September and now I am totally hooked!

Style: I have been obsessed with Leggings! They were a blessing on my long road trips and I wore them a lot while in Oregon, they are just so comfortable, so cute and so easy!

Food: While in Oregon my brother introduced me to cooking with Greek Yogurt and now I use it a lot in my recipes!

Music: I listened to Ginny Blackmore - Bones...

...and Anna Kendrick - Cups non stop all month!

My September Disappointment: Like I said I was sad to leave Oregon and I am sad that Colorado and Oregon are so far apart! I wish that they were closer so I could drive out to see my family whenever I felt like it!

August Favorites

August is pretty much a blur...my son and I made an impromptu road trip to Oregon to be with my grandpa who has been battling liver cancer for over a year now. This is why my posts have been late going up, sorry! Besides the very LONG car ride August was great and filled with friends and family. Here are some of my favorite things from August:

 Random: I loved Working Out In The Park with my friend, the fresh air was amazing!

TV/Movie: I was, and still am, obsessed with the movie Hansel & Gretel!

Style: I have been wearing Marc Jacobs Daisy every day, it smells amazing!

Food: I am madly in love with Udi's! My friend took me their one day and now I cant get enough!

Music: I cant get enough of Brett Eldredge - Don't Ya...

My August Disappointment: I was sad that my husband couldn't make the trek to Oregon with our son and I!

July Favorites

July was great! My mom came out to visit us which was SO much fun, as usual, and we celebrated a bunch of birthdays...including my husbands! July was definitely a fun filled month! Here are some of my favorites from July.

Random: My husband bought me a new camera and I have been loving it! I take it everywhere with me!

Movie/TV Show: I am obsessed with the new season of True Blood! 

Style: I have been wearing summer dresses as much as I can! It has been so hot here and summer dresses have kept me cool...plus they are super cute!

Food: I have been drinking iced tea non stop, its so refreshing in the heat!

Music: I love this song so so very much, Tim McGraw ft. Taylor Swift and Keith Urban - Highway Don't Care. I listen to it over and over almost every day, my husband is getting pretty annoyed with me!

My July Disappointment: Pretty much every afternoon in July we had a thunderstorm with rain, wind, lightening, thunder (of course) and some times hail...I'm pretty over it!

June Favorites

June was HOT!!! And busy and fun! My dad came out to visit us for a bit which was awesome as usual. Now I am preparing for a visit from my mom....so excited! Here are some of my favorite things from June:

Random: Since the weather has been so nice all we have wanted to do was be Outside...hiking, picnicking, camping, playing in the backyard, going to the park...

Movie/TV Show: I have been really into Fantasy Movies lately, being transported to a world where there are Witches and Wizards and Gods and Royalty is so amazing to me! Its always fun to check out of reality for a bit!

Style: I have been loving my All Saints Bag! Its big so it holds all my stuff and has room to grow, it has sturdy leather straps and I scored it for only $24 from a second hand store...its a $400+ bag! Whats not to love?!

Food: Since its been so hot and sunny all I've wanted to eat are cold things like Fruit!

Music: I heard this song, Gloriana - Can't Shake You, for the first time on Hart Of Dixie and was immediately hooked! I listen to it every day!

I have also been obsessed with Imagine Dragons - Radioactive 

 My June Disappointment: My Allergies have been kicking my butt this year!

May Favorites

May was busy! The weather has finally become nice enough that we have enjoyed being outside and doing outdoor activities which has been a lot of fun! Here are some of my favorite things from May:

Random: I have really been enjoying the time Ive been spending with all of my Friends...old and new.

Movie/TV Show: Every time Road House came on one of the movie channels I watched it.

Style: I bought a travel bottle of Fresh White Musk Fantasy spray and was shocked by how much I liked the smell and I love how it stays on ALL day. 

Food: Every time I go to the grocery store I buy an Avocado, I have been putting it on and in everything!

Music: I had two favorite songs this month! The Band Perry - Better Dig Two...

....and P!nk ft. Nate Ruess - Just Give Me A Reason

My May Disappointment: I adopted this adorable 2 year old Chihuahua from a friend but unfortunately no matter how much love and affection my husband gave her she just did not like him so I had to give her back which was very sad because I quickly fell in love with the little lap dog.


Update:

 Having to give back the Chihuahua made me seriously sad so my husband adopted this little pug mix from our local animal shelter for me for Mother's Day! Yea!  

April Favorites

We were all super sick in April and spent half of the month in bed but the other half of the month was fun and busy. In the month of April I met so many amazing people that quickly became really great friends, life is pretty awesome right now! Here are some of my favorite things from April:

Random: I bought the Shape Bikini Body Camp DVD awhile back and it is now one of my favorite workouts and I have been getting great results from it.

Movie/TV Show: I have been a Hart Of Dixie fan since the first episode but this month it has really sucked me in. Check out my Hart Of Dixie themed dinner here

Style: My family started racing Motocross again in April so I have been wearing hats at the races to keep the sun out of my face.

Food: I made some hummus at the beginning of the month and have been putting it on everything! Click here for the recipe I use.

Music: I blast this song, Rihanna ft.Mikky Ekko - Stay, every time it comes on...I cant get enough!

My April Disappointment: Snow! It snowed so much here in April that I felt like I should bust out our Christmas tree again!

March Favorites

March was a much better month for my family and I! We celebrated our sons birthday, we went on a trip, I met my new too cute nephew, I got to visit with my family and no one was sick! It was a busy busy month for us but it was fun and exciting. Here is some of my favorite things from March:

Random: I have been obsessed with my Jigsaw Puzzle App! My brother and I have been having jigsaw puzzle competitions to see who is faster.....I am!

Movie/TV Show: I have always been a huge fan of The Wizard Of Oz so I was so SO excited when I saw the previews for Oz The Great And Powerful and of course I loved it! 

Style: I used to never wear skinny jeans, I thought that they looked weird on me, but this winter they are all I wore. March was actually our snowiest month, we had about 4 blizzards, so skinny jeans with boots was a must for me since I hate when the bottom of my pants get cold and wet....problem solved!

Food: I have been making shredded chicken almost every night! Its so good and so easy, I put a couple frozen chicken breasts in my crock pot along with 1 cup fat free low sodium chicken broth and water to cover the breasts then let them cook for 6 hours. I put it on salads, in burritos or just on a plate with a drizzle of BBQ sauce or wing sauce.....yum yum yum!

Music: If this song, Mumford And Sons - I Will Wait, wasn't playing on my iPod then it was playing in my head!

My March Disappointment: We lost our family Easter Candy Hunt to my Mother-In-Law once again!

February Favorites

Its that time again, time to share some of my favorites from last month with you. February wasn't that different from January, it flew by and was full of sickness and doctors appointments (fingers crossed March will be a healthier month for my family and I!) Here are some of the things I was loving last month:

 Random: I downloaded the My Fitness App on my iPad and started tracking my calorie intake and my work outs. I use it every day, it has helped me with my diet tremendously! 

Movie/TV Show: I have totally fallen in love with the show Elementary! I have always been intrigued by Sherlock Holmes so being able to watch an hour of "Sherlock Holmes" and "Dr. Watson" figure out some pretty interesting mysteries is one of the high lights of my week. Style: I am a scarf fanatic so I am very happy that it is still cold and snowy here. This ombre lavender scarf has become one of my favorites and I have found myself reaching for it every time I'm about to walk out the door. It gives my normally dark outfits a pop of color.

Food: I have a hot cup of tea before bed almost every night and the Oregon Chai is almost always my first choice. I love how spicy it is!

My February Disappointment: One of our friends bought us a pet rat....yes a pet rat...but sadly he passed away only a day and a half after having him. He was a feeder rat from a reptile store so I didn't expect him to live that long but I was disappointed in just how short his little life was. R.I.P. little buddy!
